Looks alright but just dosent seem to flow smoothly from the front to the back.

If anything is guilty of that, it's the E60. The end looks like someone chopped the rear off...on a slant.

This one def. looks more refined and "complete" now that you guys mention it, but we still have yet to see the rear. In camo, it seems as if it follows the E9X sedan rear, which is that kinda awkwardly shaped as well.

+2. Well most members will like it. I doubt we'll see mass defections to the MB E Class or Audi A6 from this group. And for those who value power above all else, it is now clear that the F10 M5 will have coniderably more than the E63.

But what about the RS6? That has twin turbos as well. Will there be M5 tunes to keep up with the RS6 tunes? I notice the trend of there not being many mods for the M5 in the past, at least not engine-wise. Maybe an exhaust, but no one bought the $8,000 supercharger for it. Do you think just because there's two turbos in this M5 that there will be a steady supply of mods, in comparison to, say, the E46 M3 or the 335?

The new AMG E doesn't have too many details out yet, but just because the M5 has more power, it doesn't mean it's still the reigning super sedan. I have a feeling BMW has been resting on their laurels for the past decade or so, and MB and Audi aren't the only ones catching up. Something tells me we will be disappointed when one or more competitors surpass the M5 in performance overall.

Ah the Audi RS6 -- a 580 bhp 5.0 liter TT V10 and.....unavailable in the United States. Other than its porked out weight of 4,400 pounds it sure is a desireable car although you can't buy one here in the USA.

Given that the output of the TT V8 in the X5M and X6M is 555 bhp in that state of tune, I find it hard to believe that BMW won't tweak the motor (which now appears almost certain to be dropped into the F10 M5) to equal or exceed the RS6's output when it puts it into the F10 M5. It would be a near criminal act for BMW to drop the TT V8 into the M5 -- the paragon of super sedans IMHO -- in the same state of tune as it exists in the X5M and X6M as that would cheapen the M5 and its image. I believe (or at least hope) that in M5 form, that motor, when stock, will produce somewhere in the area of 580-600 bhp.

As for the E63, the new one (the 2010 model), the details are all known: see http://www.roadandtrack.com/article.asp?se...article_id=7985 and http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/car/09...st_drive_review. It has a NA 6.2 liter engine with 518 bhp and 465 lbs-ft of torque. These numbers fall short of the output of the TT V8 in the X5M and X6M.

There are power mods available for the E60 M5. Of course, to me the ultimate one is the Dinan Stroker engine if you're willing to drop $30K: http://www.dinancars.com/store/product.php...=459&page=1. Who wouldn't want 611 bhp in their E60?

But the fact remains that tuners generally cannot cheaply and easily extract enormous power gains from NA motor. Serious power gains from them require serious mods, such as boring and stroking the engine. TT motors are a whole different animal that way -- witness the 100 bhp gains available on the 335 and 535's engine with the expenditure of very very little money. I have little doubt that when tuners get ahold of the TT V8 (if it makes its way into the F10 M5), outputs in the 650-700 bhp range should obtainable without having to plunk down $30K like you do with the Dinan Stroker engine.

As for BMW resting on its laurels, bear in the mind that the current E60 M5 debuted in in the 2006 model year -- an eternity ago in the march of automotive technology. It is not at all surprising that, in the space of all of those years, BMW's competitors have caught up and surpassed the E60 M5 (including, most disturbingly, the less than $70K Caddy CTS-V). But with the new F10 M5, I believe that BMW will reset the bar for supersedans.

Wow even with the page break, it has a nice put together side profile than the current e60 imho I have always liked the e60 when it first came out. And if this is the real deal, I'm feeling the same way!
