My Ride: New ride from 14th May07: 525iA LCI, Sport Suspension, Deep Sea Blue, Leather Dakota Natural Brown, Hi-Gloss Black trim, Star Spoke 124 18", Comfort Seats with memory,
M -steering wheel, Glass Roof, Navi Professional, ProLogic7, USB-connection, Bi-Xenon, Extended Air Condition, Auto dimming mirrors, Electric Folding mirrors, Bluetooth for Cell Phone Sony Ericsson K750i, Electric rear window shade, Ligth package, Speed control with brake function, Cup Holders, Automatic head light control, PDC, Shadow line
Hi F10 Forum,
I have since Saturday last week an opportunity to compare my first F10, a 535iA 3/2010 to my new 535dA 6/2011.
First impressions:
- the assembly of the car is better, all doors, hood etc sit now very precise
- the car is very very quiet now, may be partly due to beter assembly quality
- 535dA cannot be regognized as a diesel engine inside the car - up to 130 km/h the engine gives no noise inside the car, after that it's like a turbine sound
- all in all, I would recommend the 535dA compared to 535iA, the torque makes it feel extremely powerful and the sound isn't an issue any more - I was a little bit afraid but it's amazingly quiet and sophisticated, best diesel sound I have ever heard!
- I have a couple of new toys: HUD is really useful, especially together with speed info - makes it easier to avoid speeding, lane departure warning system is also good, especially while the B-pillar is so wide
- Diesel consumption during first 1250 kms is 7,0 liters/100 km measured by BC and surprisingly 6,97 l/100km measured when filling the tank. Including all kinds of driving, but no speeds over 150 km/h while still running the car in
- M-Sport package in Carbon Black is better than I had taught, inside I have Comfort seats and Fineline Anthrasite, so not much left from the package
- 19" M351 Rims with Michelin Primacy RFT tyres are a good combination of comfort and look, the RFT tyre of Michelin is really a lot better than former Dunlops I have had in E60 and F10 or Bridgestone Potenza in our Z4 E89 sDrive30i
- the a pillar covers are still as bad as in my first F10
Okay, I will load pictures when I find time to wash the car and take some pics.
Smiling regards,
TGII

My Ride: All on order and should be here by 28th September 2007
I picked my new 535d M Sport up last week and I echo these thoughts. Car is very quiet and much more refined than my E60 525D M Sport.
One thing I have noticed is that no matter how I drive it I only seem to get 25mpg. On the last car (manual) I would constantly get around 40 ? 45mpg.
Car has 300 miles on it. Will this get better?

Excellent review!
I often wonder if they make very slight changes to cars from year to year without telling us. Or even changes during the same year.
Changes that are so small they don't really count as "updates" or "freshening". Things like improved adhesives or new techniques for aligning the body panels. Different gasket thickness around the windshield. More sound deadening material..... Different/better motor mounts. Stuff like that. So that it all adds up for an improved (ever so slightly) product.
In your case you went from a gas/petrol engine to a diesel but you still noticed a difference.
Or maybe it was just luck and your car was built on a Thursday and all the workers were really excited and happy about the upcoming weekend.
In the USA we had (still do) a saying..... Never buy a car that was built on a Monday. All the UAW (United Auto Workers) guys were hung over and grumpy (or called in sick) about being back at work so their workmanship was extra poor that day.

Hello Forum,
Meanwhile the 535dA has done 4241 kms. The facts and feelings: No faults, average diesel consumption is 7,2 litres/100 kms, average speed 75,5 kms/h, including quite a lot of German Autobahns and - quite a lot of "staus", meaning stop and go traffic - not too much city traffic. I still feel the car very quiet and the only wind noice begins at 180 km/h, I think it is quite nice to notice small wind noice at that speed!
Today I have made some pics, unfortunately I was lazy enough not to take the car out but took the pics in the carage. Instead I have included some better pics of our toy, the Z4 3,0sDrive A. I hope you will enjoy the pics though
Best regards,
Totally happy Titangrau II 530 iA from Innsbruck

Great balls of fire TitangrauII530iA
Thanks for fine the pics! Your F10 M-Sport Carbon Black with Leather Dakota Oyster/Black is great.
Also you wife's choice of colour and int in the Z4 is very, very stylish and feminine, a super combo!
When you guys have settled down in your new environment I wish better duo pics of your great cars.
All the best,
Riku
