Looking to purchase a used 535d this week.

That's not likely to happen. There is confidential information contained in the records and dealers generally won't release that information unless you have a relationship with them. I would press the seller for that information if they want to make the sale.

this. My dealer wouldn't give me the records for an E90 I bought there recently, and I'm up there so often I'm on a first name basis with most of the people up there, including my salesperson. It's BMW corporate policy to not release service records on used cars. The best you might be able to do is come up with a few specific questions, have them look through the service records, and confirm if something was/was not done. That's what I did and I was able to learn what I needed.

If the seller is not prepared to tell you everything you need to know, you can't trust 'em. And if you can't trust 'em why buy from 'em?
