N63 - Advice

Greetings Everyone,

I am new to the forum and would like to know if the N63 engine in the 2011-2013 550i is really that bad. I have researched on the internet in many forums and articles. I can’t help but think that some are over exaggerating how bad this engine really is. Can anyone confirm that they had the CCP performed on their vehicle and have no problems after the CCP maintenance? Are they still having oil consumption issues etc etc? I have an opportunity to purchase a 2013 550i with very low mileage $39K which I think is a pretty good deal. However, I want to avoid constantly taking the car to the dealership due to what is a R&D flaw in the engine. For me, that is a huge hassle. The problem is that I have always wanted this car and struggling with making the right decision. If I have to, I will walk away or perhaps wait for the 2014 prices to drop a little. As I understand, the problem was fixed…allegedly J

I plan to get it tuned so I can have that neck snapping jolt off the mark which the 550i is lacking in.

The other options I am considering; get the 535 with the M Package and have it tuned or just buy the Audi S5 which will definitely give me that break neck jolt.

Would appreciate any suggestions, opinions or advice.

Cheers

I just took the same plunge you're contemplating. I had an E60 535i that I loved (N54). Figured if I loved that I'd love the twin turbo V8 in the F10 550i (2013 M-Sport 6spd). I've had it a week. I hope it grows on me. It feels like a shortened 7 series instead of a the sports sedan the E60 was. I figure since it's under warranty BMW will take care of me - I got it CPO. I'd bet that with proper care and the "N63 Care Package" performed it'll be ok for the 2-3 years (at most) I'll have it. If you are OK getting an auto - maybe look for a 2014 with the N63TU?
