My Ride: 2007 BMW 550i Sport Pkg, 6MT
I may miss something...
New 5 series shares the platform with 7 series. Sure it means better ride quality but why better handling?
5 series has longer wheel base and is heavier than 3 series. Does that mean 3 cannot compete with 5?
Double wishbone is nice but it's nothing new. Weight is always the enemy.

In the UK, the stiffest competition is with the Jag XF, which I have driven (new 3.0l D).
Personally I would't buy a Ford (whether it's called Jaguar or not) if I was to buy an exec car, but the Jag does ride and handle very well.
Ultimately the E60 takes corners slightly better when pushed. The Jag 3.0l Diesel is whisper quiet and as smooth as silk. It's very quiet inside and I think just how a luxury car should be - it's almost punching above it's weight.
That will be the benchmark for the F10. I have read one or 2 reviews of the GT in the UK which state that the car suffers from a little bit of road noise which in my view might be unacceptable for an Exec. Anyway, the point is that the F10 will not be able to compete with the Jag on price and equipment (Jag is a ?few000 cheaper and almost Lexus like Kit as standard here), and BMW will have to work a miracle to make the ride better than a Jag's (given this insistence on RFT's).
Bottom line is that I can't wait to test the F10! I am sure it will handle like a god, because that is where historically BMW have invested a lot into the design - so in spite of the 5 being longer than a 3, it will be very good, I'm sure. It's what makes people drive by the seat of their pants - something BMW have always delivered on - and that feeling that you know what the chassis and steering are doing. Sure it might not be as sharp as the 3, but it ought to be better than anything else in this bracket.

The F10 535 looks like it will be slower that the E60 535, I guess the 200+ extra pounds takes its toll.
