Engines & Transmission
- 6 speed gearbox std on six cyl versions, 8 speed auto box as optional, and as std on the 8 cyl version.
So, the double-clutch tranny is only for the M5 / M3?

Right, I'm familar with what FlexRay is, my question is more about what a faster interface can do to improve lane deviation and/or night vision...
I suppose it's about reaction time and system stability that enables you to use a another kind of architecture.

Sure, the image will freeze slightly (I think it's constantly recalibrating) and maybe the FlexRay bus will allow for faster recalibration but from the information posted from auto, motor und sport, it seems to imply something more advanced than simply refresing faster, etc.
True, and the writing in German was also a bit fluffy (if writing in German can ever be...) so I suppose the engineers at BMW were deliberately setting us off scent. I due cause we will know...

AMS has stated this in several issues, but I know other magazines says the opposite. Albeit sligthly boring, they usually get it right...

A friend of mine remained without brakes at 170 kmh, on a SL55 AMG, 2 years ago : it was sold immediately .
