I've been giving this quite a lot of thought, and I'd be interested to hear anyone's opinion on this. Personally, I love everything about the E60 M5; body style, interior, and engine. I love that it's naturally aspirated, and I love the exhaust note (especially with the Meisterchaft GT2 setup ). I think we can all agree that it's a beast. Now we have the F10. We're closing in on what it may look like, and from the renderings alone, I do like it; I'm just not that crazy about the new TT V8. Of course, you can tune it for incredible power (as if the stock horsepower isn't enough), but it's straying from a long line of predecessors that contained naturally aspirated engines. With the new transmission (derived from the E92 M3), and the turbo setup, we could all probably expect some sort of problems to arise, but again, that can happen to any new production vehicle. I would love to get my hands on the E60 before the V10 is discontinued, but I'm still torn on the decision. Any thoughts?

If I were getting an M car right now, it'd be M3, so I guess, my vote is wait. But its really up to you - life is short, maybe you don't want to wait until the F10 M5 finally comes out. Either way, GL with the decision

I know another member on here that's about to jump into the last of the 2010 E60 M5's, lease it for 24 months and wait for the F10. I'm now considering extending my lease for another 2 years and roll right into a F10 M5 when it comes out. I love my E60 M5 every day, even though I only drive it once a week (LOL!). It puts a ridiculous smile on my face each and every time I get in and start her up.

I would likely wait and buy the F10 unless money is no issue sor You. You will lose a lot more money after first year of ownership buying e60 now than F10 in couple of months. Yes now it will be new but in a year Your 2010 M5 will be an "old" model. Don't get me wrong current m5 is a beast but after You see the F10 M5 I have the feeling that You will be like "damn I could've wait" It is $100K decision so think twice anyway GL!

Oh Yeah! That would help me make my decision I really like the e60 door handles What a great advice...

Actually, there was an article that came out last year saying how the E60 M5 will never be a collectors item. I found that hard to believe, but unless it has 2 doors, it really won't be that special. Maybe you should get an M6 instead.
The only reason I won't buy mine out (outside of the high residual) is because I won't be able to deal with getting smoked when the new M5 comes out. I always need the latest and greatest.

I have been struggling with the same thing. I am afraid that if I do make the move to a E60 M5, I will start seeing the new F10 and regret the choice. I have been holding on to my 04 545 just because I thing the F10 is going to be an awesome car(that and I just hit 50k miles). Yes 500hp makes me drool but then again I am sure that the F10 with a bit of computer work will put out 450 plus it will be new.

I'm in the same dilema as you...also depends on what's available at my time of lease return, since e60's are no longer in production, what's on the lot is all they got..
