Front Struts Replacement & Necessity of Their Laser Alignment

Long time lurker but first time poster here – hopefully my post is ok and makes sense:

Front right strut bit the dust so am looking at doing both front struts, sway end links and, if anything, whatever else I find that needs replacing once I've got my 2011 535i (F10) up in the air.

The BMW TIS repair instructions state that "[...] the the spring strut and support bearing must be aligned using 2 210 778 [a special BMW laser alignment kit]".

This kit can be seen in the 5th picture at: https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/f...nting/B9oHq1DJ

And more information around what fixtures are in this kit are at: https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/f...nting/Hdfsa89A

BMW warn that "After the spring tension is relieved, the laser beam must point to the specified mark of gauge (1). Failure to observe this requirement will result in substantial impairment of handling characteristics."

As you might have guessed, my questions are: Is this laser alginment tool really required? Anything extra I should do in the absence of this laser alignment kit? Or is it good enough to just ensure the springs are firmly aligned with the support bearings?
