F10 worldwide sales - still lagging behind the new E-Class
#1
September 2010 global sales were fantastic for the F10 sedan - 19,184 units (+63,1%). And though it's nice but the new 5 Series is still beaten by the absolute leader of this segment - the E-Class. Mercedes-Benz just states that there were some 23,900 units of the E-Class sedan and coupe sold and they are both the leaders in their respective segments. But I'm sure that the 5 Series will retake its crown easily because of 2 things. First, the long-base version of the 5 Series sedan entered the Chinese market in September. Second, more and more people buy the new 5 Series sedan. Third, the touring version entered the market in October as well. Altogether this will be a deserved slap to those reviewers' faces who dared to criticize the new 5 Series. Watch and change your mind, so-called "auto-experts".

Quote, "The BMW brand reported 117,467 sales in the month under review ? exceeding last September?s figure (97,550) by 20.4%. The main growth drivers were once again the large model series in particular. The strongest gains were made in September by the BMW 5 Series Sedan with an increase in volumes of 63.1% to 19,184 units (prev. yr. 11,761).The new BMW 5 Series Touring launched just a few days ago, and orders for the new model already look very promising. A total of 2,872 customers received their BMW 5 Series GT in September; while 5,491 (prev. yr. 4,336 / +26.6%) buyers purchased a BMW 7 Series. "

I know that, but Mercedes-Benz states that the E-Class sedan leads its segment. It's clearly published.

not that I don't mind seeing sales figures....but what's the point/purpose? especially when it's the same discussion/argument every single time...
does the fact that weather or not a model is selling well going to individually effect one's purchase decision?
@ the end of the day, either you like it or you don't....

On order- F10 520d SE-Titanium Silver
Now there's an excellent point. Big deal if more people opt to buy Mercedes' retirement-mobile. Let the connoisseurs buy the F10- The fewer the better on the road I say. Keeps it's relatively exclusive.

Gents,
I have added below an analysis that I have made earlier for Mercedes and BMW sales in 2008 and 2009. This analysis was made to respond to my colleagues who insisted that Mercedes Benz sells more cars than BMW.
All the data in these files are obtained from BMW and Mercedes Benz Annual Financial Reports.
As you can see, in 2008 the 5 series sedan and estate sold 202,000 units in comparison to E-Class/CLS 173,000 units.
In 2009 however, due to the introduction of the new E-Class and the ending of the E60 5 series, the E-Class/ClS sold 212,000 units in comparison to 176,000 for the 5 series.

It is interesting also to notice the extreme advantage of the 3 series over the C-Class in both 2008 and 2009.
The X3, X5 and X6 outsell the GLK, GL,, G and M significantly.
In 2008 and S/CL/SL/SLR/Maybach c;ass outsold the 7/6 series/Rolls Royce class, but in 2009 the 7/6 series/Rolls Royce class sold more than the S/CL/SL/SLR/Maybach class for the first time in history.
In 2008 BMW sold 1,435,000 units compared to MB's 1,273,000.
In 2009 BMW sold 1,287,000 units compared to MB's 1,094,000.
In 2008 and 2009, BMW total revenues were much higher than MB. I can get the exact numbers with net profit if you need to see them.
Hope this information helps.
