Well, BMW has revealed that both the X5 and the X6 will get M versions (not sure how I feel about this - does an M version of an SUV fit the essence of M-ness?).
This latest video on BMW-web.tv describes a V8 M Turbo Engine with twin scroll turbo chargers, enhanced of course. So the question is: how much enhancement will they be able to get out of the 4.4L twin-turbo V8 (currently at 400hp / 450 lb-ft)? Can it make 550hp? And if so, what does the torque go up to?

Autoweek has the answer:
Based on the standard X6 xDrive 5.0i's 4.4-liter 90-degree V8, the new twin-turbo unit is said to match the current M5's naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V10 for power at 500 hp, while providing as much as 516 lb-ft of torque.

Sounds like a lot to squeeze out of that engine..

Or then it will be a 5,something V10 with twin-turbos, giving out something between 550 - 600 hp.
Twin turbos is the name of the game today.
