Not that it's a huge deal but the 5 series is not comparable to an Infiniti G, it's comparable to the Infiniti M. The new Infiniti M was unveiled a couple months ago in Pebble Beach and that's the pic that should accompany this comparo.

Well I like the new E class (looks and engineering)...Test drove it and was very surprised...
I don't know in the rest of the world but in Canada they reduced the price of the E-Class big time. It used to be 5k-7kC$ more than the 5-series now it's 5-7KC$ LESS.. (Comparing the present 2009 5 series oubviously) that's a lot! After owning a E39 and E60 and loved them both. I like the new F10 but pricing (TBD) will be the final factor in my decision this time. I never considered a Benz before but if BMW is too greedy Im ready to switch. Loyalty will bring you so far. Handling is less and less a factor after trying the new E class as I didn't feel the difference as much this time ... I'm pretty sure Ill find it even less if it's more expensive than the Merc. BMW better sharpen those pencils.
The rest of the group I don t even care to take a look at them frankly!

I agree on the Merc. The 5 WAS inspiring, daring and innovative on exterior design (with the e60) -- now it is the Merc with the kinky design - the innovator!
The only thing the 5 now leads in is the interior and the integrated comms system... I wish I could get the mercs ext design with the F10 interior and integrated technology.

Regarding my previous post on the incoming Infiniti M:
... someone had referred to it as an M45. I should have also mentioned that the engines are getting massively upgraded and it is no longer the M35 (V6) or M45 (V8) but will now be the M37 or M56.
The 3.7 V6 will put out 327 horses while the much larger 5.6 V8 will put out 420 horses. For those interested, here is an Inside Line review of a pre-production model: http://www.insideline.com/infiniti/m56/201...irst-drive.html.
I will be a Bimmerphile till I die, but my father is very into Infiniti and it's not hard to notice that they are certainly stepping up their game. 420 horses? CRAZY
