Okay so I got off the phone with my sale person (here in new york). He kept saying that they are not producing that many E60s because the new model is coming out in the summer? I wonder if that is a true statement.

So I guess I will be out style for about 1 1/2 years. I was trying to avoid that since I just signed a new 30 months lease.

well the new model is coming. However, IMHO the E39 5 series still looks good more than 5 years after it was discontinued and I expect the E60 will be the same. When I trade up it will be for either an E60 M5 or F10 M5 and go from there, no way I would disappointed with an E60 M5 - they are sexy cars. Enjoy your E60 it will not be "out of style" for quite a while.

BMW has advised their dealers that E60/61 production will cease at the end of December 2009. Last day for special order on E60/61 is October 9th.

Yes it sure will Dave. Its styling was so far ahead of its time when it came out. And even today, it looks far more daring, modern and unique than its competitors in the premium mid-sized sedan segment. Bangle, who was reviled at the time the E60's debut will go down in the annals of automotive history as a visionary.

That isn't what the BMW European delivery department is claiming, at least for U.S. production.
Last week, they told me that I can order an E60 for delivery from the factory all the way up until the end of February, with pick-up until late March/early April.

That would seem to make sense given that, otherwise, there could be a huge gap in time between a December end of E60 production and a summer/fall F10 launch date in the US. BMW would not want to be without new 5 series cars to sell for so long a period of time.
