Does anyone know of the best way to find manual 550i F10s? Are they so rare that the only option is to custom order them, or is there a website that shows F10 inventory nationally?
Also, how long does the custom order process work, and which dealer gives the best deals for this in So Cal?
Thanks!

from order to delivery usually takes 6-8 weeks.
I've ordered my last 2 BMW's and all took just over 6 weeks to get here.
Dealership wise, I hear nothing but good things from steve thomas bmw in camarillo for both pricing and service. But everyone has their favorite CA/dealership.

You are most likely guaranteed to to have to order it. Especially if you want certain things.
Otherwise IF there is a manual sitting on a lot, you will have to take what you see.
But if you want a deal...a manual 5 series sitting on the lot is better than ordering one exactly how you want it.Dealers are scared of them because they sit for weeks or months.
Manuals are rare because the average buyer simply doesn't want one. And this is the last generation 5 series that BMW will have of manual trannies.

Just as an update, I ended up ordering my ideal car in October...
So excited for my delivery on Friday. Ordered a 2013 550i M Sport 6MT, Alpine White, Black Dakota leather, Hexagon trim.
Ordered 10/22/2012, delivered to Oxnard 12/4/2012, picking up 12/7/2012 at Center BMW. I am coming from a 2009 535i 6MT and have never driven an F10 6MT.
I have had many many cars and am only 29yo, so I am hoping this beats them all!

Thanks! Since I put a $2k deposit down to order the car, can I get that back? I prefer to have no capital cost reduction, especially with the loyalty cash, etc. It seems to make sense to me to put as little down as possible, right? I also want to avoid all of the hidden fees that I have unfortunately encountered in the past with Bev Hills BMW...
