Across the board decrease in performance from the 2008 e60 to 2011 f10 535i

The car picked up just a little too much weight unfortunately.

Thanks for that comparison.

the obvious answer is get the f10 550 and TT V8 engine, as much good as it sounds, a TT V8 is not appealing to me as a DD

cue Pete....

Thanks Gene. It's what I had expected based on weight increase, but it is interesting to see a confirmation based on hard figures. What I did not expect, though, was that the F10 would be more noisy at cruise speed, especially based on the many reviews claiming the car to be very silent. Any idea why it is so ?

Anyway these figures seem more than adequate for a daily driver...

Gene, why do you say the 550i is not good as a DD?

To me, it's the PERFECT DD.....super fast, handles great, super luxurious, lots of amenities, and gets decent gas mileage for its size and power.

BTW, track figures change all the time....too many variables: weather, road condition, car condition, driver skill etc.

Example: C&D's comparison article clocked the 535i at 5.4 sec 0-60 and the 1/4 mile at 14.0 sec. (and that's with an auto). I'd say that's pretty decent given the mass increase.
So Gene!

But judging a car totally by track numbers is moronic. You need to take it out into the real world and see for yourself.

^agreed on all points Pete...i have test driven the f10 535i and 550i and both a great cars in their own right, but I just haven't walked away thinking I have to get this car.....and in all honesty the number differences are minuscule in terms of overall performance...and for the increased weight of the f10, it's not too far behind e60 numbers..so that does say a lot....

An absolute decrease in the performance department. Shame on BMW. Slalom speed 64.9. Oh, my God. Even the E-Class is faster. Shame, a real shame. Go on BMW, continue to increase the weight of your cars. Mercedes-Benz rejoices over that fact.
