Just wait for the M sport package and you'll get something really extra.

BMW is a pricey car and the extras are really salty priced.

But it's the best in its segment, any segment.

I knew there had to be a reason why I am paying $5400.00 to get homelink garage door openers. No seriously, you are 100% correct, they make an amazing vehicle, I found that out two vehicles ago, I was all set to get an Infiniti M45 when a BMW salesman shows up at my office with a 545 and says here just try it. Needless to say I leased the car on the spot. When that lease was up I got an MB E500 and have been trying to sell it since 30 days after getting it. Well it will soon be gone and my $ 5400.00 garage door opener will arrive. Safe driving !!!

Yes, 5400 bucks for a garage door opener don't sound as a sensible purchase.

Could it be possible to have a separate garage door opener?

Well I can always use my remote transmitter for my garage door, but who get's a $71,000.00 car that does not have an integrated garage door opener? That's like saying I own a BMW but can't afford the gas. Ok I will admit the other options that come in the executive package described in my original post are cool and I will enjoy them, but the fact remains no $ 5400.00 executive package, no Homelink and thats what this thread is all about.

Funny thing is I would WANT all the stuff in the Executive Pkg you mentioned anyway in my next 5er. So yeah, I'd pay the premium, just like there is no way I would get a car with leatherette - I haven;t had a car without leather interior since I was 18.

- Ambient lighting
- Universal garage door opener
- Auto dimming mirrors
- Leather

... I know that the 528i is the "base" model, but shouldn't these things all be standard on a car of this cailber? I know BMW has always been one to charge for a lot of little things in the base model, but this seems a little excessive to me.

Before I posted this I wanted to check and see if the 535i is treated the same... and it is! A car that bases at $50,000 doesn't have this standard... asinine.
my sons nissan altima came with what BMW calls comfort access which is a $1000 option
The worst of all here I think is ambient lighting. Is adequate/cool looking interior lighting seriously an option? Come on.

It's called what the average person is willing to pay in premium for that prestigious BMW badge we all know and love.

Still BMW is doing something right, they are staying on top of their game making sure that consumers are satisfied and believe they are getting their money's worth. And this is why I buy my BMW's used. Hard to believe the value of my car dropped by 2/3 or ~$40k in the 4 years it's been out and about prior to my purchase. Yikes!
