What a shame. I thought this was going to be an article about some company in China ripping off the design and not about BMW moving some of the 5 series manufacturing to China. If you go down in the comment you will see someone who did a fairly lengthy response to a lot of other comments. I think that is actually worth a read and articulates a lot of valid points/concerns.

China is the third biggest market for BMW - they need to produce cars for the Chinese market there - as they do in Kaliningrad for the Russian market. I doubt they would export cars from China to the Western markets though. Many high quality products like iPhones, Canon multifunctional office devices etc. are produced in China - without quality differences.

Everyone thought the world was coming to an end when BMW and MB started building cars here in the U.S.
That seemed to work ok - so from a quality standpoint what's the big deal if China does the same?

Just quess who possess most of the US loans. The Chinese owns half to US!
There are more than 1,000,000 Chinese and 300,000 US citizens.
The Chinese Goverment has a currency surplus of some close to $4 billoin,
but US debt is about $15 billoin.
Just think!

the ratio is ok, but you are missing a couple of zeros 300.000.000 vs. 1.000.000.000 would be around correct

the average chinese person earns $160 a month. yet there are other chinese that can afford new bmws.
my question is, why is there such a big income disparity?
i thought china was a communist/socialist state. can private citizens own businesses there? how much of business is government owned?
and the money china loans to the usa, is not from the average citizen....its government money.
