Hi guys, I'm getting rid of my 4Runner and want to replace it with an all wheel drive 5 Series. I'm mainly looking for the most reliable and economical (historically) option combination. I'm not into big power or turbos that may go out. It's just my daily driver to and from work. I used the search function and couldn't get a solid answer. Thanks in advance!

One more thing.. Is a manual trans in these years more reliable? I live in the mountains and it may help in the hills as I'm at 9,000ft elevation and most cars are dogs up here.
