My Ride: BMW 520d aut 2012
Awful scraping noise on 520d
Good evening BMW people,
I have a nice 520d automatic from 2012, app. 90,000 miles on it. FSH from BMW and never missed a beat.
However, today when driving home from work, there was a very loud clonking noise from somewhere behind. It actually sounded like somebody was hammering on the floorpan from underneath the car, full power, just once. *boinngggg*
And then afterwards, each time I turned around a corner, there was a scraping noise from the rear left wheel (at least, I think). Sounded very unhealthy.
What on earth could this be? A broken spring?
Kind regards
CJ

Sounds like a stone or twig caught between disc and disc shield on the wheel; very noisy...
