Any News/Updates on the next 5 series
#1
Thanks to all who have given me input on the current 550i Sport. Everyone here has been very helpful. This evening I spoke with "Veight" by phone and he suggested that if I hang on to my Audi A8 for it's full lease term, I would be looking at March 2010 for my next car- possibly the new 5 series.
While I love the current 5 series, when will the "New" 5 series actually be available?
Any word on the specs, new technology, size, performance?

Just got this today, new photos of BMW's new 5 Series GT, Hatchback.
http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/news/autoexpr...NLC-Newsletters
I for one don't like it. They've taken a 5 passenger car and ruined it with the center console going right thru
to the rear seating, making it a 4 passenger. And the hatchback? I don't think it will sell that well.
I guess this is Chris Bangle's going away present to BMW design.

They say the new 5 series (F10) will see its first official appearance in one year,
in the spring of 2010, Concept models a half year before.
The 550i will have the current X6 4.4 litre V8 twin-turbo engine boosted.
The 535i will have a 3.0 liter straight six twin-turbo engine boosted.
Some 340 and 410 hp with a lot of torgue.

530i will have a 3.0 litre straght twin-turbo engine also.
They might call the E60 TT 535i a F10 540i (as with the F01 740i with 326 hp).

That will be the 535i, but the 530i without turbo(s) will for sure be available in Europe, also.

Ricracing, you're missing the point. Auto, motor und sport clearly stated that the 530i will have a downturned version of the 3.0 litre twinturbo, (still delivering 272 bhp but with a much better torque and with better fuel economy)
That I have to admit I missed.
Hast du den link?

Jeps... this is from the latest ams edition:
"So weicht der Dreiliter-Sauger im 530i einem Biturbo-Sechszylinder mit Direkteinspritzung, der gegen?ber dem im 335i eingesetzten Triebwerk noch einmal modifiziert wird."
So, the new 530i will have a twin turbo too (not single turbo)
