Active Dampers

Hi guys,
I have a F10 528i, which was delivered last month.
My dampers knock/thump/thud if I hit a bump or uneven road surfaces in Comfort/Normal mode but not Sport or Sport+. According to BMW Malaysia, this is a worldwide problem. Something to do with the programming of the damper computer box, which they claim is still being rectified, and not the dampers themselves.
Anybody else having the same problem? Appreciate your views.
Thanks and regards,
Shukor
P/S: I'm sorry if there is already a topic on this, in which case please redirect me. I did a topic search but didn't find any. TQ

Only time I have noticed a problem is when the front wheel hits a significant hole / bump in the road - then the rear damper on the same side of the car can make a very loud BANG hitting the same hole..... very scary the first time it happens.
Whatever algorithm BMW have programmed to 'warn' the rear suspension to allow it react to the road clearly isn't working........

reading a few separate threads on 5posts also seems to suggest this is a programming issue...

Thanks Gene... I'm at my dealer tomorrow getting an engine warning light checked out and will mention to them.
Like one of the later posters in the thread you linked to, my feeling is that the rear damper is allowed go to slack and consequently the bump/rebound is violent and noisy.

Thanks for the reply guys! On one hand, I am glad that I'm not the only one having this problem. On the other hand, I hope BMW does something about this fast because the thumping sound/ bump/ rebound is very violent and I am assuming that this is definitely doing damage to the damper(s).
I have highlighted this issue to my BMW dealer and they have told me that they have submitted a few complaints to BMW AG and they have subsequently acknowledged the problem and working on it (or so they claim).
Let's keep each other posted on this.
Once again, thanks!

Hey Shukor!
I had a lot of problems with the software for the first 2,000 km's,
but then the car got them solved without any service visits.

I can only confirm that I had this happen initially 2-3 times exactly as in the original posters description. It did scare the c**p out of me. I thought the rear wheel had come off, it is a big bang. I've had a full software reflash recently to cure sticking gearstick and have to say I haven't experienced the comfort mode pothole bang for a while... Hmmmmm maybe they did sort it?

Hey RicRacing!
I was hoping the same would happen to me. But I'm now at 8k and the problem occurred as soon as took delivery of the car on Oct 16 10. 2k to go before my car is due for 1st service/inspection. I'm hoping for a solution when I get it back.
Thanks and regards,
Shuks

Hey,
Maybe I should get them to reflash the software too. Perhaps, that'll do. Besides, they have to do something because they programmed the BMW Service number without the + sign since the service number is a German one. And they said, my phone was not compatible. Some people! LOL
