8 Speed Automatic Slated for F10 5-Series

BimmerFile states that BMW will introduce a new 8-speed transmission in the F01 7-Series, to be followed later by the F10 5er.
It is touted as being smoother and will reduce fuel consumption by almost six percent. And for the 7-Series, the gear selector will also return to the console from its previous stalk location. Good move BMW.
