So, can anyone comment on if the "6NR Option" which allows for use of the BNW Connected iPhone App is worth waiting for? (Supposedly it isn't available until March of 2011).

Details are a little sketchy as to what it will enable (at launch and down the road). My sales guy seems to think it basically allows for Twitter and Facebook to interface with the iDrive. These two things aren't that important to me...I'm more interested in if this "option" will permit future app integration.

I'm interested on if it is something "worth" (admittedly a personal preference) waiting for, and/or if it is something that current cars will be able to be upgraded to.

The gadgets and technology are important to me, so thinking I might want to wait a few months for this. I know these sorts of technological "innovations" are a running target, but don't want to miss out on something big (especially in a $70,000 car).

My understanding is that as long as you have the new combox (started w/ Sept 2010 production), you could add the 6NR option once it is introduced. Might just be a software update...

Does anyone know if this option is related to the enabling of "video out" functionality of the iPhone? I remember reading a post in Gizmodo about this awhile ago. If
So, it should allow for lots of cool stuff/apps since it would be coming from the iPhone itself and not rely solely on the BMW firmware...
