EDIT: I misread the BimmerFile blog - they think the TT V-8 will go into the E60 this Fall!
From the BMWBlog:
This past weekend, we have learned that BMW has decided to use the twin-turbo V8 engine in their next generation 5 series, due to be released most likely in 2010. The 6th generation 5 Series will be codenamed F10 and it is supposed to be a revolutionary product.
Having a twin-turbo V8 engine that will push around 400 horsepower, will definitely make the F10 5 Series an amazing product and many bimmer fans are looking forward to this.
Now, we hope that the new 5 Series will have an interior design that will give us something fresh, different. A design that will make the BMW addicts forget about the Audi's pretty interior.
And BimmerFile says that it will be called the 555i. Plus, hints of the DCT!
Expect to see this motor utilized in the 555 much the way the current V8 is. Overall it will be the sportier model in the line up and offer the standard options and features the current model has. The availability of the sport package with aerodynamic body kit option will remain with some slight changes, including limited edition color choices. Choices of transmissions have not been officially confirmed but we have received several hints that point to a milder DCT will be available when combined with the sport package.
400hp & 450 lb-ft (perhaps a bit under-rated like the TT V-6, and certainly as tuneable)
Can't wait!

Based on what I've read on the F10, they got me, hook, line and sinker. My question is this: what is the lure of the M5. I always said that the M5 will replace my 550, but now I'm rethinking that. I can only imagine that the M5 will be sportier and a bit quicker, but at what cost? There has to be some deminishing returns on a per dollar basis...
