535 White Smoke when launching

Hi everyone, hopefully this isn't a dumb question... first dip into the BMW world with a 2013 535 M-Sport for the wife. Ran like a champ and inspection results came out clean, minor things need to be done.

While we were driving it home, I put it Sport+ mode and launched it. Took off like a rocket but my wife noticed what appeared to be white smoke. I saw the smoke as well but at this point was too dark to tell color.

Got it in the garage and at idle there is no smoke. My wife revved it up and still no smoke. Thoughts? I know my T5 volvo will blow some black smoke if you launch it while the Turbo is trying to spool but white smoke usually indicates burnt coolant.

Anyone else experience some smoke smoke when they get on it from a stop? Didn't sound like I spun the tires off, she launched hard like a rocket.

I’ve seen this before but there’s a big difference between white smoke and white mist / steam.

if it is usually only there on cold startup, it would suggest you have a coolant leak into the engine bay, but it’s not guaranteed.

can you check your coolant level and confirm it’s not low?

in the case above, when the car is idle the coolant would be leaking into the engine and being burnt off when it’s started, it can be present for 10 mins or so of driving but eventually disappears.

its normally a poor seal somewhere and wouldn’t be expensive for a garage to repair.
