On the E60 : I had placed an order for the 320D, that week they introduced that same engine on the 5. So I cancelled the order for the 3 and now drive a 5.

The E60 is a much better and more car than the E90. Good choice!
When will you upgrade to a F10?

£5k+ for 1 second 0-60 and 50-75 seems a pile of cash (I think you also get ambient lighting)

And a few other bits like extended AC . Its a whole lot more cash again for the 530d and 535d - but people do. So much of my choice is about BIK, and I paid a heavy price by choosing the 3 litre 6 pot E60 525d last time but preferred the extra performance and refinement. Of course if the budget had stretched to it, I would have gone for the 530d, 535d etc but you can't have everything! My observation with the new 525d is that the whilst the purchase price is higher, the BIK and fuel consumption are almost as good as the 520d so there might be some who previously wouldn't accept the extra cost and the extra BIK, but now might stump up the extra cash. Time will tell of course - I will be changing mine next year, so I might be one of the 17%.

For those that don't know, the BIK (benefit in kind)is the % company car tax payable on the car list price which is based on CO2 emissions. Info lifted from BMW website, although doesn't show the fact that BMW quote different emissions depending on wheel choice. Figures in brackets are auto trans..
