As spied already, the Progressive Activity Sedan will be one of the new models using the new 5-, 6- and 7-series platform. In the latest issue of my house bible auto, motor und sport, it's revealed that the car will be called GT. The new series is yet another niche product that BMW thinks will give a much needed increase in revenue (they're way behind Audi and MB for the moment and the share price has plummeted lately)

It will use the same feature as the new Skoda Superb thus simulating a sedan and a hatchback at the same time. Same engines and the possibility to get xDrive as for the standard 5er.
No way BMW will release this.

Looks like a lowered X6 to me. Also, GT.... sounds too American for a German-made car.
Oops, I forgot there's the VW Golf GT as well.......

Hmmm.... me not liking it at all.

When's the new 5'er pics coming out so I can get out of this E60?!!!

It kind of looks like the illegal "Lovechild" of a 1 series and an X6!
You mean it should be called the 5-series Randy?

Here's more salt into your wounds:
auto, motor & sport 1.09
"BMW F?nfer GT. Crossover-Modell mit h?her gesetzter Karosserie auf F?nfer-Basis, dem sp?ter eine vergleichbara Dreier-Variante folgen wird. Das Konzept ist in der gehobenen Mittelklasse weitgehend einmalig. 'Man muss Mut haben, in ein neues Segment einzusteigen', erkl?rt Strategievorstand Friedrich Eichinger, der in der neuen Variante einein 'modernen Gran Turismo mit ?bberraschender Variabilit?t, sieht."

BMW 5-series GT. Crossover model with higher chassie built on the 5-series. A similar 3-series version will follow. The Concept is unique among mid-sized luxury cars. 'One have to have courage to dare stepping in to a new segment', says Friedrich Eichinger, head of Strategy, who in the new version sees a 'multi purposed Gran Turismo with surprising versatility.
