Has anyone recently bought the 2011 528i?

It seems that the current going price is around dealer invoice, and there is a $1500 BMW holiday cash. So is anyone getting the new F10 at ~$1000 below invoice?

Is this a good time to buy? Or, there will be better deals after the New Year? The BMW holiday cash expires 1/3/2011.

I priced the 528i with some options right at the $50k for invoice.

I just got mine 2 weeks ago, and they did indeed give me a $1500 "holiday" discount.

Hopefully, you got the invoice price plus the holiday case back.

I just got $1k under dealer invoice for a 2011 535xi custom order. That was the best that I could do despite negotiating with four dealers. Other offers ranged from $600 under invoice to $2,500 above, which was a joke. I also looked at the 2011 MB E550 and had $4k under invoice on that for a custom order, which essentially brought the two cars to within $5 of one another. Other offers on the E-class were all at least $1,500 under dealer invoice. (None of these involved a trade.)

I've ordered nearly every option, so I don't know whether that matters at all.

I have no idea if I could have done better, but I simply emailed the desired configuration including MSRP and invoice pricing to five dealers and asked for best and final prices by return email by a deadline. (I test drove the car while waiting for mine to be serviced.) The responses came within a couple of hours in every case but one, who waited until the deadline. (No idea why since he was the highest?) One of the dealers insisted on repeated phone calls to "determine whether I had any questions" and refused to provide any type of price quote without my visiting the dealership, which I never did.

This is the second time that I've purchased a car this way - i.e., both BMWs, the other is a 2009 528xi. As I say, I have no idea whether I could have done better, but this was a very painless process that required a minimal time investment and zero back and forth with the dealers. Most of the dealers (i.e., both BMW and M were very professional and seemed to appreciate the fact that I wasn't interested in wasting their time or mine.

In any event, good luck.

Wow, that's a good deal for sure.

Where are you located? I realize the location plays a big role on pricing.
