hi im new to the world of e61s having just purchased a 525d can anyone tell me what the bhp is as i was thinking of a remap....i thought it was 177hp but the bmw dealer thought it was 161bhp as it is a 2004 car on the order form it states e61 525d se touring m57 2.5d registered 08/06/04 thanks mark

In 2004 they changed from the E39 to the E60/E61. Your E61 525d will have 177bhp. Its the E39 525d that had 163bhp. I assume that's were your dealer got confused?
In Germany they introduced a 525d "Fleet" model in 2006, with a reduced power of 163bhp, which was targetted at company car fleets. These were not available in 2004.
p.s. Can I have an autograph?
