Default what transmission

hey all,

What auto transmission came in our n54 LCI cars? I saw one VIN decoder site say the HP19Z, but thought all LCI cars have the HP26. Or is it the HP21 which is the same as in the E90?

Mainly interested to know for the torque rating.

Thanks!

You can look under the car at the transmission to see which one you have.

The 6HP19Z should've been stock, but unless you bought yours new and know it's not been goofed with, it's a good idea to crawl under and check the tag as stated above.

I I forgot to say to look for the tag on the side of the trans. It has all the info you need

yeah I will get under there eventually. It's weird as no LCI cars should have the 6HP19. Reading from some other forums, it appears than the GA6HP19Z is stamped as an internal BMW reference part code, but actually refers to the updated ZF GA6HP21 or 26 on LCI cars. The 19Z was a BMW designator from ZF and not referring to the correct model from their factory. 335i have the same 19Z stamp but are known to carry the 21
