Just got back from doing a 600 mile round trip to Paris. On the way down the average speed was registered at 92mph before getting to the outskirts of Paris .

On two occassions the car indicated that I had a puncture.

I checked the tyre pressures in all tyres on both occasions and the pressures were perfect. I realised that on both occassions the warning had come up on the slow down to the toll areas.

I can only conclude that the tyres must cool down quite quickly after a high speed run which then registers as a drop in pressure. Very annoying as you feel compelled to check it out, really didn't want to be doing over a ton on a punctured runflat!!

Cheers

Ulysse

You might want to try reinitializing your system. Just check all cold pressures and verify they're where you want them. After that, just go into the iDrive settings, select initialize from the FTM menu, then drive around for a few miles until the status changes from "initializing" to "active" (or some words to that effect.)

I just had my FTM come on again last Friday. I was losing 5 PSI a week in the right front for two weeks. So I finally took it to the repair shop and they found a nail about 1-1/2 inch long in the tire, patched it up, rebalanced it and sent me along with a $25.00 bill.

I take it you don't have run flats? Cause I was pretty sure you couldn't patch them up!!

Remember that they are not a pressure monitor, they are using a mathematical program that measures rolling circumference etc etc etc via the abs sensors blah blah blah.

Anyway they get false alarms from time to time and I love the way it is arrogantly programmed to say TYRE PUNCTURE!!!! As if your tyre has exploded. I have noticed its always come up on highway driving, never bumpy roads and the like as you might expect.

Still, a good device for when the real thing happens when on RFT's as long as it doesn't go off so often that you start to completely ignore it.

Good mileage on your trip. Just did a 300k trip in the 530i Touring. 4 people, dog, luggage etc, averaged about 30 mpg in your "ancient" language. Mixed highway/country driving with some hilly stuff. My guess is the diesel would have done better than 40, but you cannot get it here in the Touring. Thats my ongoing whinge.

By the way, you absolutely can plug runflats when damage is like a nail in the tread, just like any other tyre, but whether it is desirable or not is another question entirely.

I have heard that the cellphone can disturb the RDC system. If you had the phone near the center console and get the alarm it might be somthing to try to alter.
