Seems that his dealer grassed up on him.
It depends on which country u're from. I don't recall seeing any legislation in UK re in-car tv, but the magistrates will not let u off lightly if u're involved in an accident with the tv on.

How did they find out (I mean the authorities)? If nobody finds out, then should not be a problem. Are there laws in SA that states the dealer must unearth any offending item?

Iceman

Thanks for the website address advertising the system allowing TV to be viewed on the move. However, it is in German, any chance of a translation please? How good is it?

As I said, I have it in my car.

First of all to those critics:
In Germany it is not illegal to use it, as long as the driver is not looking. This for the passengers convenience.

Now, It is a plug and play module that comes with instructions for the installation. It can be done by yourself, a dealership will probably deny the installation. It blocks the speed signal coming from the tach, so the computer thinks the car is not moving. No other function is affected by it.
On my first module everything was blocked, so the screen was black and all systems were fully functionall in the background. The module got changed in just two days under warranty. I didn't do the install myself, BTW.

Don't do it. I can't believe any sane car enthusiast would consider this for a moment.
Please emigrate and change from a BMW first
