My Ride: looking at 530 xit
Thinking about buying 2006 503 xit
Hi all,
I've never owned a bmw wagon but have admired them from afar. Every served it 2006 530 Wagon at our local CarMax. It is a one owner and looks to be in great shape.
I have a couple of questions. Is there anything I should look for in particular and what is reliability life for that year? I am thinking about getting a bumper to bumper extended warranty through 100000 or 125000 miles. Needed?
Here's the link. Thanks for your input, pros!

It looks like a nice car, David! Low miles too! Depending on the price, the bumper-to-bumper warranty might be a good idea. What are they asking for it? The price is not listed in the ad.

Nice car, Interior looks like it needs a cleaning. Depending if you want a project car or not make sure it has the add-ons you want already on as adding later costs $$$. I have a 535xi and have owned the 530xi. of the two I would recommend the 530xi as a more reliable car. Twin turbos are nice but cost in maintenance. Make sure you understand the 530 issues ahead of time as these cars can cost a lot to maintain. Good Luck!

Carmax is asking 4600 for a bumper to bumper 5 yr/50K mile warranty. Seems a bit steep. I shopped around and found a similar warranty for 3129. What are the common issues for these vehicles. Think it's worth the layout of cash for a low deductible (100) warranty?

I think $14,900 is steep for a car that old even with the mileage. I have the 535XiT with a lot more miles and loving it.
I came from Mercedes wagons from the 124 to 210 to the 211. Then went to Audi with the C5 allroad and two C6 wagons. Finally with the E61 and enjoying it immensely.

I agree that $14,900 is WAY overpriced. Auto Trader has 3 for sale in our area (one a 2007) between $10500 and 12250. The NADA on it is about $13900.
Sorry, I can't help you much with the warranty. I bought my '07 CPO @ 56,000 miles. It now has 120,000 and I never purchased the extended warranty. I've heard good things about a plan called "Route 66" though.
