My 2005 525 DAT has a temporary failiour in the brakelight in the rear window - it comes and goes,,,, had a check at BMW shop and it sounded expensive to cure,, look likes there is a poor wiring inside the car,, probably in the roof inside the hinge were the wiring loom goes inside the car! Estimaded part cost were approx Euro 1500 (?) - probably a part of the main harness,,

Anyone else with the same problem??

Hi There I Had The Same Problem after BMW Stealer Fixed The Locking System on the glass opening portion of the Tail Gate..
They Told Me it would cost ?350 to fix.
When I created a Fuss pointing out it was fine before they sorted the tailgate they said they would have a look as a goodwill gesture and Lo & Behold all it needed was the wiring connectors pushed together properly...A mistake on there part..
So check all of the wiring connections first!!!
Sorry I cant tell you exactly which one it is but its obviously inside the tail gate..
I Hope this Helps..

My brake light failed and then more recently the glass hatch. Just had the wiring fix done. Glass hatch OK but high level brake light still not working. Independent getting new light unit to see if the short blew bulbs. May be a loose connection.
