Default No defrost or washer

Pretty obvious rear window hinge issue here:

E61 tailgate washer hose and defroster (ground) severed

I started pulling things apart to try to gain access but ran out or time (school pickup). Certainly not seeing how I am going to gain access to reconnect the tube and butt-connect that wire. Will try again when I can park the car for a few more hours (and read the full thread).

Frowned upon, but, I didn't bother fixing my ground or the washer hose. No reason for the washer hose, I don't use the washer.

As far as the ground, I grounded it under spoiler, to the trunk hinge directly. Resolved my heated issue. Coated everything in di-electric grease to stop corrosion. Obviously, had to take apart the wire harness on the other side of the car and fixed all the wires there. The positive for heated window was broken, as well as a christmas tree of other wires.

Good luck!

Jeez, that's the worst I've ever seen. You're lucky it looks like the coax for the radio is still intact. You're going to have to pull the wires back through the hole where the rear speakers are in the headliner. I'll post a link to my guide on the job below. Good luck

Default Pdc cable

Hi Guys,

Great thread, my remote locking, rear windows defroster and PDC was not working, thank to this thread, today I opened my right-hand side hinges and found one broken cable. I fixed it and my remote locking problem is solved. I suppose my pdc and defroster problems are also related with this broken cables and I think they are in the left hand side hinges, since my tail window switch is not working it is a quite difficult job to open and check the cables on the left hinge, do you guys now which cables are pdc and defroster cables and do you know from which hinge they are going through? If you can let me know i will save at least couple hours, thanks in advance.

The defroster ground runs through the left side. I don't recall where the feed for the defroster runs, but I can check. Here's the thing - you can be certain that you have many cables at the point of breakage with the few that have already been damaged. Fixing them individually is time consuming and will be unreliable unless you replace the sections of harness that travel through the hinges completely - just my advice. This thread has some good advice on how to do that - that will restore reliability to your tailgate functions.
