Clear the codes and see if they return, with no hard braking.

I did. This happened once before. I had to slam on my brakes, other driver blew a stop sign.

Does the reduced power notification ever clear though? With that notification, I'd expect to see more codes thrown. When was your last tune up? What does your battery histogram show?

The notification goes away once the car is restarted. I just replaced the spark plugs. I have a 29e1 intermittent code (I already know my # 6 cylinder injector leaks). I dont have the battery histogram

I thought you just did brakes and nothing else. Changing spark plugs makes more sense. Allow me to explain my experience.... I had that malfunction when I changed my plugs. Nothing helpful showed up on the BMW codes and I was sure the problem was the plugs because I just changed them. Then I checked the OBD2 codes and found the error pointing to the plugs (misfire).

So I go back in and re-inspect my plugs (oh I didn't put it all back together as its best to run the car for a bit before doing all that) ok so I get to the cylinder in question and don't quite see anything out of the ordinary at first. I look closer and see the retaining clip on the coil pack is like a half of a millimeter unseated. I'm like naw, that can't be it.

I said, well let me re-seat it flush like all of the other coil packs. I doubt its the problem, but lemme try it. Well wouldn't you know, that fixed the problem.

The spark plugs were done a couple of months ago. The brakes are recent. The issue only occurred now twice, once when I first got the car and now. I never got the reduced power under other driving conditions, even after an MHD tune and doing some hard pulls.

But something could now be moving out of place by inertia, just enough to cause a problem.
