Angry suspension exploded

Hi im new to the forum so go easy on me

finally after waiting i have bought an e61 its an Se 2004 and tbh ive had to spend alot of money getting it to where it is but im struggling now all the mechanical jobs are done its th electrical/software side i cant get to grips with

recently i changed the gearbox oil and noticed whilst it was on the ramp that the rear height control sensors were cable tied on so on closer inspection it looked like the nut thats inside the unit had coroded away, this what was causing the issue with the front suspension a while back as the car was lopsided slightly, any way back to
I purchased some new height control sensors and fitted them to the car, when the ignition was switched on the car jacked its self up slightly on the back which I left till the next day, after coming back to it with the laptop i plugged the car in and started looking through the ride height adjustment and followed the steps on the screen
rim size etc which are 17s
then rear left and rear right values which i entered in mm then it went through the process and it did nothing but after seconds it said it had completed the setup i tried this 3 or 4 times expecting it to vent so that the suspension would come down but still no joy, i tried to changing the value by 20mm to see if it would lower it and the compressor kicked in and pumped it up abit more even though i was trying to lower the value so then i added 20mm to put it back to what it was and still continued to pump it up
till the point where the compressor stopped and then i heard the car creaking then there was a god almighty explosion and found that the passenger bag had exploded and the drivers side was on the verge of it to, had to quickly release the pressure for the drivers side,
ive fitted a new bag now and the suspension wont do anything I've check the fuses and the voltages ive even plugged the old sensors in which i new were working and still no joy, I've had to blow the air bags up by frigging the compressor on and the valve block to each side so i can get air into them so its not sat on its arse

can somebody please help me i know this might of been covered before but I'm staring to loose trust in the car as it s one thing after another

Are you using ISTA or INPA. In INPA you should see everything in a -120mm to 120mm scale. The safe zone is -20mm to 20mm. You should of calibrated and activated and that's it. It should stay within the safe zone.

I used ISTA and followed the on screen steps by putting the ride height it and rim size and it says on the screen that it was doing it and that i should wait 10 seconds then came up saying it had completed and did absolutely nothing, ive since put anew bag on but am worried about doing it now if it blows them up again
is it easier to do it thorough INPA and if so how is it done and how do i see th values on screen of what the sensors are reading

Hello P,

Use INPA and first control it manually to see whether the comperessor and the valve unit (near the comperessor) is actually working. by pressing the function keys in INPA you can lower or rise teh car instantly. If thats working properly you go to the calibrate menu. Positve values lower the car and negative values increase the height.
Play with it a little and see whats going on. If that doesn't work at all either your module or your sensros do not work properly. Sensors itself can be checked by INPA as well....
Do not change the modes you can put the car in!
