Sunroof wind noise - fixed
#1
Hi all
Bought myself a new panoramic sunroof seal from BMW the other day (£20)
Took about 1 hr to strip the old seal off and clean all the "sticky" stuff off...
..and about 20 mins to fit the new one! Then initialised the sunroof by holding the tilt button down for a short while.
A very easy job...and what a difference! I haven't had the screen closed since and even on the motorway (70mph...ish) there is little if any wind noise.
Highly recommended for anyone suffering from excessive wind noise when running at 30mph+
Here's a pic of new on the left and old on the right for comparison.

Hi
Yes, that's the same issue i was faced with, and the same part number I bought: 54 10 7 199 533.
The seal goes around the roof, not the glass and come with a sticky backing ready for installation. The pics below show the roof closed (The new seal is on the right)and the roof slightly open. I've also put one up of the bag the seal came in, in case it helps!

They actually used to be publicly available - if you knew the web address - but I think BMW caught on too many people were reading them and going into dealers with info the dealer was supposed to know, but didn't , so they locked them up! Now, I just grab them when I see them posted as attachments. Guess people with connections still manage to get them somehow.

So if you knew the SIB number, you could just type it in the path, and get it.
