Please can someone out there help me.

I have a 545 touring (september 2004); only done 20000 miles so far.

I had the steering wheel badge replaced under warrenty as it had warped; like it had melted.

I was assured it wasnt the airbag.

Now the replacement badge is also warping.

See pic attached.

BMW UK are now refusing to replace it on the basis that they have replaced one already and there is no manufacturing fault.

Before I take issue with BMW UK (and sue them if needed) I wondered if there are any other sufferers?

For intance, my Fathers 530d (3003) also has a warped steering wheel badge warped; is this in fact a common fault?

Any advise would be greatfully appreciated.

Regards

I guess you have to live with it. I warped mine when using a horn last time... and btw. it's a part of airbag, you can replace the whole part but it's not worth it, is it :]

Mine is warped also - 2004 530d (but so many other minor problems didn't bother with this one)

PS 20,000 miles in 4 years, its not getting enough use to be worth the depreciation - needs some serious driving !

I had the exact same warp on my 2004 530i steering wheel roundel.. I bought the car certified pre-owned, and I couldn't remember if it came that way, or if I pushed on it myself by accident ? I was planning to change all my roundels to black anyway, so I bought one from European Auto Source for $10.00 USD. It has adhesive on the back and I simply put it on top of the warped roundel, and it works great.

What the hell are you guys doing to your cars to cause that?

Enthusiastic horn usage? Parking in intense sunlight? Pounding on the thing when the guy in front of you won't get out of your way?

I've never seen nor even heard of this before.

Well this may be an old thread, but I just bought a 2007 530i here in TX and the badge is warped as well. For a 37K vehicle, I would thing that this is unacceptable. I can put up with it being bent, but not my wife who keeps on staring at it and gripping that we never had something like that happen to any of the Toyotas we own.

Damn right!!
You would expect top quality, even in a 50 cent piece of plastic.
