I have a 2008 535XIT and I love however I can't seem to get the seat to be comfortable.

The problem is that the front edge seems high and I can't adjust it independently.

I order to bring it down I have to tilt the whole seat forward/down which is not what I want.

I did a 600 mile trip yesterday and I feel sore today. My X5 had the standard seats and I never had a issue with them?

The car ran great on the trip and average 24.5 MPG according to the trip computer.
The car is a rocket passed a slow car in the fast lane and was doing over 90 in secs.
I love the car but I should of gotten comfort seats.

I'd think you would feel sore after 600 miles in any kind of seats.

Maybe your seats are not as broken in as your X5's seats though.

Oddly, I would think the standard seats have less thigh support than the comfort seats which are adustable in the front.
Maybe try to put the seat a little closer to the pedals or lower, that would take the pressure off the front edge.

I have done 400 mile trips in the 550i with comfort seats and my X3 with standard seats. Both were great with no soreness issues at all. I have found it best to empty my pockets of phones, etc for more comfort.

Hi V70Cat,

I had standard seats on my '04 and '05 525iA's.

In my opinion they where pretty good after adjustment.

But it took a while for me to learn how to use them.

Take your time in the garage or at the parking lot to adjust them.
Then when you take a longer trip, use the few electrical adjustments
to slightly adjust and differ the seat positions once in a while.

Worked just fine for me.

...I agree with the need to "break-in" the seat. It took me a good while to find a comfortable position in our '07 and, now that I've found the spot, long trips are not a problem. However, my standard BMW seats will never be as comfortable as those on our standard non-Aero 2003 Saab 9-5. Though finding the right adjustment also took a bit, those seats never failed to be comfortable and allowed for the 800+ mile days on our last long haul trip to Alaska in 2007.

I have felt sore/tired after 450 KILOMETERS a day with my sport seats. But after some adjusting, I have found the right position for me.

I never had this issue with the non-sport/non-comfort seats in my old E39.

The last 7 days I did almost 3000 km in standard (X3)/sport seats (my car) and my back hurts as hell. I am so pissed I did not order comfort seats. It will be my first feature on my next car.

The comfort seats are fantastic, lightyears better than the sportseats in my previous E91.

I have the sport seats. Same here. Took a long time to get the correct comfortable position. My back was aching as well after a long drive (which isn't related to age as I'm only 34). I finally found a correct position however the only disadvantage is that the back rest now is further away at the shoulders (with my head I barely can reach the headrest). Never had this problem in my Alfa 166. A bit annoying.
