Interesting.
Metric system? Hahaha. No kidding. We seriously should switch.
Okay I found the matching setup:
Front: 245 35 20
Rear: 285 30 20
This equates to:
Front Diameter: 26.80 Inches
Front Revolutions per Mile: 776
Rear Diameter: 26.80 Inches
Rear Revolutions per Mile: 776
Now the question is whether we can fit a 285 in the rear and still clear on an E61...
I am diligently searching for the answer throughout the forum.
I did get a response from Alexio (forum member) that the staggered fitment did not hurt their E61, so that's great news. Nevertheless I'll probably go with the fitment I mentioned above if I can, as I'd like to keep the matching profiles.

I hear the allowed tolerance for BMW and some other cars (Acura MDX in my case) is 4/32" in radius (or thread depth) between tires.
Audi is less than 4/32".
So you need to make sure your tires are close to 8/32" dia vs 0.2" in your case, which is in a ballpark.
AND PLEASE can we switch to metrics system for god's sake!!!

The wheels looked like I could push them out a bit more (or put 285 tyres..), so yesterday I tried a 5mm spacer on one of the wheels, equating to an ET13 now. Well, it rubs on dips on the outside, so I am removing it again.
This means I can not put a 285 tyre on the rear wheels. I presume that if the ET of my wheels was a few mm higher than 18, that would be possible.
You can make your own calculation of whether and how this applies to an xi Touring. My stock 18x8-inch wheels have ET of 20 in the rear.
Hope that helps

Excellent information. Thank you very much for the input!!
I think I'm going to go with the 285's then roll the fenders.

I put 19-inch wheels on my RWD E61 two months ago, with rear-wheel size 19x9J ET18 with tyres 275/35/19. No rubbing whatsoever.

Here is the epic thread on XI fitment you should not ignore:
https://5series.net/forums/topic/951...ensions-for-xi
I don't remember any one running wider then 275mm tire in the rear on XI, but it doesn't mean it can't be done.
I don't think you mentioned offset of your wheels? This is important to consider it along with tire width.
Also keep in mind that different brand tires while marked 275mm wide can vary in width greatly, e.g. Conti DWS will always be skinnier by about 10mm in comparison to GoodYear tires.
Good luck and please update The XI fitment thread if you figure out your new fitment.

Thanks! This was the exact info I needed.
I'm gonna shoot for 285's in Hankook Ventus V12's. I've ordered Vossen VVSCV3's in 20x10.5 in the rear and 20x9's in the front. They'll be here in a few weeks.
Here's what they look like:

RWD E61 may have different clearances inside wheel wells.

Good choice on wheels, let us know how they workout.
What offset are they?
If you can fit 9" wide wheel in the front on XI, I may just grab that staggered set of OEM 124 and do square tire setup.

The 9" should fit up front, but that'll be helped by the M5 fenders on the front of my E61. They don't come in for at least 4 weeks, so unfortunately we'll have to wait and see.
Setup is ET30 Front and ET42 in the Rear. 95% sure on that...

How much did you pay for fenders and who did you order them from?
Any mods required to install those fenders or is it a simple bolt-on?

I don't recall what I paid for the fenders. Ordered them from Sterling BMW in Newport Beach. I did the conversion on the whole front-end, so fenders, bumper, and hood. The car had ben in an accident, so that's why I purchased all those parts at once.

Only challenge with the fender install was inserting the M5 vents on the side of the Fender. As the 535 doesn't have the vents, there is some metal that you'll need to cut away. This will be very apparent once you take the fenders off and it's not challenging to address the issue.
