My Ride: 525d Touring (E61) Steptronic, Active Steering, Dynamic Drive, Silver Gray, Black Dakota Leather, 138 Rims, Park Distance Control, Sliding Armrest, Advanced Air-Con, Professional Satellite Navigation, Sports Steering Wheel, Xeon, Adaptive lights, Heated Front Seats, Voice Control, Bluetooth (T630)

On delivery of my new E61 I choose to exchange the standard 17" RFT tires that came with the 138 Rims for Continetal TS790 17" non-RFT winter tires. (Mainly because the dealer could not get RFT winter tires in time.) I then ordered an emergency spare tire kit. Much to my (and the dealers) surprise the 17" emergency spare tire did not fit in the space that was provided in the trunk of my E61.

I was wondering if there is anybody who can tell me which size of emergency tire fits in the tire space of an E61? Maybe the dealer should have ordered a special tire housing to replace the standard one? (Without the bottom tire-housing the tire fits in the trunk - it is this housing which is to narrow to fit the emergency spare tire.)

There are 2 bottom housings, one for no wheel, one for emergency spare wheel

You need to order and insert housing part no 51 47 7 137 461 ( you should have 462 installed at the moment which cant take a wheel

You must also get the pad 51 47 7 137 460 which supports the truk lining when the wheel is in the housing

The spare wheel should be a 4Bx17 with 135/80R17 tire

You also get the oddoments tray which holds tools ect that fits into the wheel part no 71 11 6 758 781

Hope this helps

Found it in the parts catalog. The ermergency wheel, tyre and car jack (including 71 11 6 758 781) can all be ordered with one part number: 36 11 0 308 889.

So a complete emergency wheel retrofit for a E61 should be:
36 11 0 308 889
51 47 7 137 461
51 47 7 137 460

Or am I missing something...
