Default Self leveling suspension compressor active too often

Hi, All,

Self loveling suspension compressor started to act too aften than usual, nevertheless there are NO ERRORS on iDrive.
It starts to work almost every time i start the engine and quite often after i turn it off.
Also, its seems to work louder than before (but it could be just psychological factor

Nevertheless car is pre-LCI, but the intake hose is new-type, with mesh on. Seems to be ok from appearance. Compressor itself looks nice and clean. Havent checked part number (new type or old).

Q:
1. Biggest chance that the problem is with compressor. But how to be sure that it is compressor IT SELF, but not the solenoids/valve block (part between compressor and air bags)?
2. Where are some kind of back(non-return) valves? In compressor itself or in that solenoids/valveblock?
3. What is the possibility, that its not compressor's fault, but leak in black/red/blue tubes or air bags?
How to check everything by Yourself? And what would be most effective sequence?

THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

I will be removing my entire rear OEM leveling system(compressor, lines, fittings, etc) within the next couple weeks(except the bags themselves). Mine was replaced by the dealer I want to say 17-18k miles ago, will have to check invoice for exact mileage. If you decide you need any parts, let me know.

I am going to guess the reason it is so active is because you have a leak in the system somewhere.

Hi!

Recently, I have gone through the same problem. The bags had an air leak due to being old and cracked and because of that, the compressor was running constantly.

Greetings from Spain!

I had a similar problem - it turned out to be the rigid pipe that leaves the pump and passes through the pump frame had rubbed on the hole in the frame and had a leak. Fixed wiith a bit of chemical metal last year and no issues since. You could hear the air escaping

Does anyone know where the sensor for the system is placed?
My compressor goes on often and I get the fault message alot, I checked the system but can not see any damaged parts. I was thinking if there is an sensor which tells the system to fill up, if this doesn't see the car moving the time would expore, but I guess that the ride height would be high then!

The sensor is connected via rods to the suspension. They arn't your problem though as the like you mention it would be sitting way to high.

How often is the compressor expected to run? Seems it would be variable. Mine also runs frequently, often with startup, not as often at shutdown. Hear it if additional passenger gets in car while running.

That's about what mine does as well. It seems that it only runs when I first start the engine in the morning when I put it in reverse ONLY if I have a passenger in the back. If there is no passenger, then it usually doesn't run.
