Hi all. Recently had our brake fluid, pads and discs changed after the service indicator flashed up. Had the front discs changed at the same time. This was done at Kwik Fit rather than BMW as it was about half the price.

Anyway. While they reset the indicator for the pads, the car's still saying the brake fluid needs doing.

Normally, you can just go into the service menu and reset, but I don't seem able to this time. Is it possible to reset this yourself, or does the dealer need to do it?

You can reset it yourself.

- Turn key to on position
- press and hold reset on gauge cluster
- when you see the brake fluid logo press and hold the reset button
- it'll say rest? let go of the button and press and hold the reset button again
- it should reset

THanks for that.

I'll give it a go later on. If I remember.

Nice one. Took a couple of attempts as I went into some weird and wonderful text. But got there in the end.

That must be the hidden menus of the OBC.
Gives important info about several things, like coolant temperature (as no temperature gauge is available on E60/E61).

Guess you mean "no precise" temperatur gauge"?

The gauge at the RPM meter is sufficient to me as it give an OK indication of the engine temperatur with repect to normal working temeprature which is 8 lines left on my 530D.

Not in the LCI models. Mine is a 530d LCI Touring and there is no indication for temperature in the RPM meter.
I use the hidden menus in the OBC.

I genuinely can't remember if I had the door shut or not, but I'd have said not as my daughter was in the house alone and I didn't want her to panic and wonder where I was.
