Does anyone have a problem opening their rear window on the tailgate? I pressed the button on the wiper blade but it does not open. Can someone give me advice on this? thanks!

Propably broken wires in the tail gate wiring harness. See few threads below..

Is the car all the way unlocked (2x unlock button), or is it "a wake" meaning that it has not been sitting for more than 15 mins unlocked?

Could be the wiring harness going threw the hinge.... , good place to start.

It has been unlocked all the way, but still no luck. Will double check the wiring harness later. Is there anyway to open it manually? Thanks!

I have exactly the same problem here!

I need to open the window to check the wiring.

Any ideas as to how one opens the flaming thing!?

Cheers,

DC

Have you tried removing the rear lift gate panel from the inside of the car? On my car it's just 2 "T" knobs on either side and the whole panel flips down, there is some storage room in there too.
I don't know if you can trip the release latch that way, but it may be worth a shot.

Did you ever get the tailgate glass open .. ??? I keep searching the forums for guidance, as I also have a dead tailgate (and dead rear wiper). Need to open the tailgate t fix the wiring ...

Let me know !

Thanks,

Seen a couple of thread about faulty tail gate glass not openning, and wish I could help out with some info. The problem that I have is quite the opposite to this. When I unlock the car, there must be a short or something somewhere in the rear wiring loom because the tailgate glass pops open and the rear boot cover slides on up. this can happen 10 to 15 times in the morning, trying to get going. It doesn't happen if the car is locked, but occasionally I will back get to the car and have a "High Rate of Battery Discharge" message because the tailgate has popped open. Doesn't make for a very secure car!! When the tailgate is not popping open on its own, I can't open the damn thing with the button under the wiper blade!

Have taken the car to my local dealer, and typically, the problem didn't occur when I was there, but the tail gate popped about 3 miles down the road! They said that they hadn't heard of this before, and the diagnositcs reported nothing faulty.

Anyone had a similar issue before and managed to get this solved?

I used to have a Mg ZT-T and it had a BMW sourced tailgate switches for opening both the hatch and the tailgate. It occasionally failed to work and if I locked and the unlocked the car via the drivers door with the key it seemed to reset something.

Might be worth a try!
