Rear Liftgate Problem

06 530xiT Having a problem with the liftgate...It seems jammed closed...I try to operate it from the door jam button, remote or the handle on the liftgate...Motor makes a noise, the liftgate makes a slight motion and then will not open...seems that there is something stuck or jammed, but the rear is clear... Anyone experience this?
