Rear hatch glass has a mind of its' own
 

Hi, it's me again.

Pulled into the driveway this past Sunday after a day trip. Put the car in park and the rear hatch glass unlatched itself. It's been doing it since. Sometimes I can hear the latch mechanism activate multiple times in a row. It seems to be related with shifting into park and/or pressing the brake pedal after start-up, but it's also done it just driving down the street. We looked at the wiring in the tailgate, and we cannot find any broken or frayed wires in the hinge/conduit areas (where I know they break). I did re-wire the passenger side of the tailgate several years ago as I had lost use of my remote key fob. We did look at the diversity antenna today, and that does not look like it's had any moisture in there. Can anyone point me where to go next?

Sounds like the glass release microswitch (the button under the rear wiper arm you push if you're only going to release the glass). P/n 61319200673. Good luck!

What if you disconnect the switch wire? I believe the connector to the right of the antenna amplifer is the wire that goes to the switch. If you disconnect that and the problem goes away I would agree with @SportUniversaal that it is the switch. If problem still persists I would guess that there still must be a wire broken or has insulation stripped in your hinges. I know you said you checked them already but I can't think of anything else there.

I had a similar experience a few months ago and replaced the glass hatch switch and problem solved. I have read about others having issues removing the old switch and very carefully having to cut it off, but mine came off quite easily. Part cost about $70 US. Good luck!

Thanks for everyone's input on this! Yes I thought about preemptively replacing the micro switch, as I read when that stops working and your glass hatch is closed, it's a real bitch to fix it. So I may just go ahead and do that. I've been driving the car for almost a week since we inspected all the wiring back there, and it has not done it since. I also had my buddy pull the stored codes in the car, and there were none that he felt related to the hatch.
