If he is in North America...no.
Not many if any USDM cars from BMW have rear fogs , the Mini owners threw a fit when they first were imported got a petition started and now it is like a $70 dealer installed add on.
All Audi's have them , and most VW's, have the bulb there but it's not connected to a switch.

Yes. It would help if the members here would show their location!
Anyway, I think that rear fogs are a complete waste, but that is an old argument in many other threads!

Yes I am in the US.
I live pretty close to the ocean and fog is a regular issue. In fact, yesterday I heard the fog horns from the cargo ships as they were doing their business.
Merc, Audi and numerous US models have them, surprised that BMW decided to eliminate this. How much did it save them?

What we in the EU call fog lights, you guys call Brake Force Display (BFD)
BMW decided that people in the US couldn't control rear fog lights, so instead you have Two Brake lights and a 3rd BFD. In the EU we get 1 Brake, 1 BFD, 1 fog - pre LCI.
On LCI cars the whole world has the same set-up except that in EU the fog and the BFD are the same bulb - so you get no BFD feature when you have the rear fogs on.
