Pano roof quirkiness
Just rescued my e61 from a non-BMW owner. The car came cheap to me, but with a plethora of faults. 201 to be exact. I am now down to around 20.
Regarding the sunroof, I cannot reinitialize it. Pressing the button for open does nothing but move the shade back and forth about 2 inches. Tilt does work for both panels. I was able to open the roof via my Foxwell 530, but I cannot get the shade to move at all. I was expecting the shade to move with it, but it does not. I have NO codes thrown for this and am not really sure where to start with this one as I have read for several hours without finding these same quirks. And the pano is new to me. All of our other bimmers have the single panel (fortunately) and have not been an issue.
You will be hearing from me often as this is our first e61. I killed our last e60 with a deer (sigh).
Howdy to all and thanks in advance for the help!

Yes, sir. That WAS the case. It was the switch.
I pulled the switch last night and took it apart. I blasted it with contact cleaner and put it back together then installed it. Viola! My pano roof works!
I can imagine that this is a temporary fix and I have another switch on order.
And I wanted to clarify what the shade was doing. It was basically stuck in vent mode. Open that inch or two, between the two shades, that lets the air in when in vent mode. The switch, when activated, would close then open back up to the vent mode. This did not open the glass to vent, only the shade. One issue down and many more to go!
Thanks for the quick response, donpb. Like I said, you are likely to see me active, here on the forum, as I have a super nice '5er to get back to it's glory.
