My Ride: Jan 2006 E63 650i Sport . Options: Sport version (includes: sport-seats, sport-suspension, M-Sport steering wheel, Anthracite headliner, Shaddow Line), Saphire Black, Black Dakota Leather, Anthracite Maple Wood trim, Steptronic Auto, Xenons, NAV-Professional with Voice Control, TV, CD-Changer, Bluetooth, Logic7, Head-up Display, Comfort Access, Seat Heating front, Auto Dimming & Folding Mirrors, Extended Auto Air Conditioning, PDC. . Mods: Spacers 5mm front & 15mm rear . Wheels: 20" Alpina Softline (Classic) with Dunlop Sport Maxx non-RFT (255/35/20 & 285/30/20)
Default

After the hassle I went through to get my (winter set-up) 128 19s T?V-approved on my Touring with 15mm spacers, I have decided to get rid of my M5 rims and replace them with another set of OEM rims the same size as my 128s, i.e. with ET32 on the rear. This means the following rims are possible: M172, M101 and 190. The M101 is too expensive and not really my taste, so my short list is the M172 or the 190. I really can't decide if I like the type 190 or not! What would you choose??

The M172 looks like this:

The 190 looks like this: (sorry about the pic -- hardly any out there!) http://img519.imageshack.us/slideshow/player.php?id=img519/7340/1223989398otz.smilOEM 19" type 190 on an E61 M-Sport ??-190_on_e61.jpg

And the 190 on an E92 (-- I'm really struggling to find pics of these rims!!) More pics here

What do you think of the type 190... or  ??

thanks

The 190 style!!!
These are hard to find,
and BMW doesn't make them any more.
I'll think you have to work with 10mm spacer on the 4 wheels.

You're right about those rims being hard to find!

For the E60, the style 190 is the same size as the styles 128, M172 and M101. I have fitted the style 128 (front 245 / rear 275) on my Touring with no spacers on the front and with 15mm spacers on the rear. This set-up has been approved by T?V.

The style 190 is normally about ?1000 more expensive than the other OEM rims, but salesafter are offering them for 2500 at the moment, which is only 200 more than the M172s.

Do you think the style 190 is or  ??

Definetely NOT style 190. They look way too much 'pimp' imo. It looks like an after market wheel (imo!).
Sold them once on a titansilver 335Ci and made the car look 'ghetto'. Stick with the 172's!

Btw, the style 190 may look nice on photo, but I think it looks not nearly as good as in real...

The 172's have always been a favourite of mine (and the Mrs too). That would be our vote!

Thanks guys, message is clear

I like the multi-spoke look, like my M5 rims, but I agree with what you said -- the 190s somehow look aftermarket and bling! Not my style, so I guess I'll order the M172s...

In response to your PM, which I'm too lazy to open , my dealer returned the wrong wheels to me, so I could not take pics of my M5 rims. I will collect them this saturday, assuming my dealer gets it right this time!
