The give-away words "with speed cameras included" which means they are selling copies. That's the reason they are so cheap.

Very cheap due to copy :-(
Patrick E61: after I got the Idrive upgraded to CIP 33 (Summer 2009), the NAV calculate the route a lot faster than before. However the system is still slow and graphic useless compared to the new HDD based Idrive system and other Nav products (Tomtom etc.).
I would never personally use a hand-held device instead of the installed NAV PRO !

Is it really worth updating the nav disc ? Apart from adding speed cameras, what are the other benefits of having a disc that is only 6 months newer ?

Interesting... And cheap.
But my BMW Professional NAV is so damn slow, that I don't even use it - aside from being to see where I am. My TomTom 920 gets abused when we need navigation help.
We drove 5000km around Europe last summer, and I never entered a single address to the BMW NAV. It is ancient technology IMHO.

Does anyone have suggestions from where to purchase map-DVD for NaviPro? Preferably from Europe, to avoid customs fees. I'm looking for Scandinavia/Europe maps.
I got my maps for BMW directly for about 210E. This was July last year, and it was `on offer` - specifically: `DVD Road Map Europe Professional Update 2009-2`. The deal also included a voucher/inscription from Navteq (the maps producer) for the 2010 version for free (haven't received it yet though !).

I absolutely agree with this. I used a 100 Euro Tom Tom system in preference to my BMW business Nav, it is quicker, gives accurate speed reading, warning beeps for speed cams and I take it with me in hire cars in Europe and the US.
My e61 nav dvd shows only 1/3 Finland , so i need to use some times N95 also when travelling in Finland.

I've tried to get the latest Professional DVD map from a file sharing site. Problem is that the size of the file will only fit on a double layer DVD (8.5 G. I've tried it twice already but I drive simply doesn't recognize the DVD. I almost get the feeling like the player can only handle standard 4.7 GB DVD's. Any views on this?
thanks!
thanks!
You can buy a 'third-party' disc copied from the original BMW disc for approx 40 Euros. Otherwise BMW will charge you over 200 Euros. Just google what you are looking for, there are plenty of options.
If you are comfortable with the more popular file-sharing sites you can also get it this way.
I obviously, do not promote or endorse either of the above options which are most probably illegal depending on your country.

Hello
As far as I know, the DVD drive can handle both single & dual layers DVDs. Original GPS DVDs are dual layers and you can also give a try to burn a double-layer DVD full of MP3: you should be able to read them all.
I guess that you burn your data on a cheap-priced DVD or at too hight speed... but for sure, this is not a limitation on the drive itself.
